Theme Nights
Here's a history of some of our most (in)famous theme nights! Some, like Switch Night, are a yearly ritual for our regular theatregoers. Others, like Frank 'N' Furter Night, are a one-time-only flash of brilliance and/or utter mayhem.
Oftentimes a theme night will involve plenty of audio snippets dropped over the movie soundtrack and other famous characters and people portraying the Rocky Horror characters we know and love. Okay, so it's complicated, but the fond memories we have of our theme nights make them well worth the blood, sweat and tears involved in pulling them off!
Switch Night
Premise: "Boys will be girls, and vice versa..." Switch Night is our yearly April Fool's Day trick on the audience. All the male parts are played by females, and all the female parts by males, and people who play small roles or don't perform get a shot at the big roles. This makes for some interesting dynamics when Frank N Furter is no longer gender-bending, and Trixie has a schlong.
Memorable Moments:
- (2006) Brokeback Trixie
- (2007) Pirate Trixie
- (2008) Katie as Frank

Boys' Night
Premise: In honor of Father's Day, Sins rolls out a sausage fest casting where every role is played by one of the males on cast. From the first moment to the last, all you'll see on stage is the boys of Sins playing dress-up and pretending that they can do their own make-up.
Memorable Moments:
- (2006) Boys Bunnies!

Girls' Night
Premise: "The night when the girls rule, and the boys really drool!" Seven of the main characters in Rocky Horror are male. We told those seven to take a hike for the night. This theme night, being the more salacious counterpart of Boys' Night, and appealing to the more basic instincts of cast and audience alike, has lasted through three showings and will likely spark quite a few more.

Animal House Night
Premise: First there was "Impaired Performance Night," then there was the idea for "Toga Night." Someone had a stroke of genius (or just a stroke) and thought to combine the two! On the Ides of March, or as close as we can get, Sins encourages the audience to play along with the cast as we throw an Animal House style Toga Party at the Nuart. Combined with this, each performer takes a drink of a tasty beverage each time they come onstage. The result is usually an incredibly fun show that's only memorable to those of us who remained conscious. Don't worry though, folks, we're trained professionals.
Memorable Moments:
- Security murdering Bernie, Caesar style.
- Toga contest for the audience
- The rest is kind of a blur...

Hebrew Horror Night
Premise: There's an old saying that you play to your audience. Sins took that and kinda ran with it with the idea of Hebrew Horror--a night devoted to Jewish Humor and mockery of all things goy. With all the chutzpah we could muster, we left no joke untouched, no foreskin unsnipped as we played off of and bashed on all things Jewish.

Sing It! Night
Premise: Sinners can sing! And to prove it, we hooked ourselves up to microphones and cut the audio from the film during the songs of Rocky Horror. We kept the instrumentals, courtesy of the Sing It! Karaoke tracks, and our wonderful and talented performers serenaded the audience with their own sultry voices!

Alumni Night
Premise: Sinners never die, they just get old and cranky. The first show of January is when we bring them back in all their wrinkly glory to relive what we call Rocky Geriatrics. Our lovely alumni once more grace the stage in fishnets and heels as they relive their performing days with Sins from years past.

Mardi Gras Night
Premise: Sins is not known to pass up an opportunity for debauchery, and since New Orleans is more of a swamp now than it once was, we thought we'd provide all of our Los Angeles audience members a chance to enjoy what Rocky Horror would be like if it was done during Mardi Gras. We have beads for the ladies, themed prizes and foods (gives new meaning to the term "babycakes"), and an air of festivity and drunken shouts of "show us your tits!" pervades the night.
Memorable Moments:
- um, the boobs, duh!

Rocky Vomit
Premise: We draw names from a hat, literally, and whoever gets chosen to play that role has just enough time to learn the blocking before we throw them up onstage and see if they can fly. Every role from Trixie to Crim is up for grabs. Even the Trannies get an overhaul!

Sacrelidge Night
Premise: Pick a religion. Pick any religion. Now do whatever you want or whatever you can to piss them off. That's what we do on a regular basis, but on Sacrelidge Night we played it up as much as we could. We crucified the Jew all over again, no Zen Buddhist was safe in our midst, nor was anybody else for that matter. If you believe in anything, we made it our mission in life to piss you off that night.
